It seems the boys and girls far away on the other side of the Eurasian continent have been paying close attention to the recent antitrust stunt the European Commission pulled off against convicted operating system monopolist Microsoft.
China Tech News cites Chinese media reports that the maker of dubious software such as Vista and very nice office software - aptly dubbed 'Office' - might wind up in a bit of a pickle in China, as a few IT companies over there are trying to collect evidence for a Chinese antitrust lawsuit. That'd be a big problem for Microsoft, albeit one it has run into beforehand.
Apparently, the manager of Evermore Software told newspaper First Financial Daily that he's been running a file on Microsoft, saying the green-tentacled octopus from over-the-hill and far beyond were harmful to this company and were detrimental to the development of Chinese software industry.
Kingsoft and other companies are apparently also perusing files and lawbooks and sit chatting in dark dens whilst drinking a pint or six to see if they ought to pull Microsoft in front of a Chinese court for its perceived antics.
However China Tech News does make a very valid point, stating that Microsoft's software is pirated by the masses in China and thus widespread, whilst the better part of China's economy is protected by Dear Leader. Contemplating that, it just seems that Chinese companies want to try and keep Microsoft out of the picture all together - even though they might be programming applications which run on all the pirated versions of Vista, or XP.
