Microsoft hopes for future Yahoo talks

God, will it never end?

By Nick Farrell in Rome @ Friday, March 20, 2009 8:23 AM

Delightfully understated Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that he was still holding out for talks with Yahoo.

Ballmer said, he has only had one chat to Yahoo's new CEO Carol Bartz but he hoped there would be future talks on some form of partnership deal.

According to Business Week, he said he was sure that when it's appropriate, he will have a chance to sit down and talk with Yahoo.

Unless he was fooling himself, Ballmer said, he would expect a good opportunity to close a deal.

Shares of Yahoo rose more than four per cent in morning trade.

Bartz has said that every business in Yahoo is up for examination as the company seeks to revive growth and compete with internet search advertising leader Google Inc.

She has also opened the door to negotiations with Microsoft about a search partnership. X
