Microsoft releases blue LED mouse

Scuttles across any surface

Microsoft is set to release a mouse that uses a blue LED rather than a red laser.

The German Amazon website has been showing off new Microsoft Explorer mini mouse with its new "Blue Track" Technology. It said it would be in the shops by 9 September.

Blue Lasers can be used on a greater number of surfaces. This would mark the fourth great revolution in the way mice have evolved over the past few decades or so, Microsoft claims.

The blue LED will be used in conjunction with wide-angle lenses to replace balls, optical red and laser mice in one swoop. It will also use radio frequency instead of Bluetooth for increased operating range.

Logitech already has a Blue LED mouse on the market and there are countless DIY web pages on how to convert red LEDs if you were so minded. Check it out  at the ITPortal X
