Motorola has unveiled a new vehicle-mounted mobile computer.

The VC6096, which features an integrated GPS, records relevant driving information, including mileage, location, performance and vehicle metrics. The mobile computer also offers Bluetooth as well as simultaneous voice and data connections via 3.5G WAN connectivity on a GSM network.

According to Brian Viscount of Motorola, the device will enable companies to "accurately capture relevant vehicle data and and increase efficiency by automating driver logs, time cards, and highway fuel tax reports."

The VC6096 is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2008.

It should be noted that Motorola recently won contracts to provide TETRA (TErrestrial Trunked RAdio) digital radio communication networks to a number of Indian international airports, including Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The new Dimetra IP system is capable of supporting voice, messaging and mobile applications, including remote access and data transmissions over a single network. X
