MTNL cuts broadband charges by half, launches mobile TV

No fashion and religious channels

Public sector telecom services provider Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Ltd (MTNL) reduced its broadband charges by up to 50% to expand its user base in New Delhi.

The new plan will offer high speed Internet access of 2 mbps at a monthly rental of Rs 99 ($2.31) and free download of 150 mb. Users can also opt for a monthly rental of Rs 149 ($3.47) with free download of 400mb. The plan will be offered from 15 August.

MTNL, the first to launch IPTV in the country, has also launched mobile TV. The TV services will be available to its customers on both Dolphin and Trump mobile phones in Delhi and national capital region.

Users can view 20 different channels and will be charged Rs.99 per month for the service. However this service does not include fashion TV and religious channels. X
