Piracy is intolerable

Taking stern action, entertainment system player Nintendo filed a lawsuit in a Tokyo District Court against five Japanese game companies alleging they pirated computer software that were used on the Nintendo DS handheld game.

Some 54 companies that develop gaming software have jointly filed a lawsuit with Nintendo against these five companies that were sued. Some of the companies that have jointly filed the lawsuit are Capcom, Sega, Bandai Namco Games, Square Enix, Taito, Hudson and The Pokémon Company.

Nintendo, along with other complainants have filed the lawsuit hoping to prevent the sale of R4 cartridges for DS and also in quest of a ruling through which it hopes it can stop the illegal piracy and other unfair competition practices. This move is also seen as Nintendo’s attempt to ban the importation and sale of DS devices by companies in Tokyo and Yokohama.

Nintendo has clearly expressed its anger over the entire matter saying it puts Nintendo off when it sees the emulation machines causing damage it and other makers. It further said in a statement that the matter cannot be overlooked and it’s geared up to take decisive legal steps. X
