Not working from home the next big thing

Telecommuting so last week

CNN is claiming that now everybody's working from home, thanks to the Internet, the next big trend will be co-working.

Basically, this means that all those telecommuters are starting to leave their homes to form co-worker groups, where they will still do their own thing, but will at least have a few humans to talk to. Generally, workers feel they are more productive when they have people around them who are working.

The groups hire a room and work from the same office. They can then do all those terrible team building events that companies like doing including 'beer pong'.

Mostly, it's the IT crowd that's into this, and it means that people can ask others questions when they get stuck. Although since most of them are wired into their real offices by ICQ we can't see how this makes a difference.
