Nvidia intros notebook graphics chips

Yeah, for Intel and for AMD

By Examiner Staff @ Tuesday, June 03, 2008 3:12 PM

Graphics chip designer Nvidia said it has introduced a range of notebook graphics chips to support Intel and AMD microprocessors.

Because, after all, this is the bread and butter side of business, and Nvidia still needs Intel and AMD to creat microprocessors to sell its chips.

The Geforce 9M notebook chips use what Nvidia dubs hybrid SLI technology - using a low power and a high performance chip to work in the same PC. Nvidia claims that the 9M family have a re-designed grpahics engine giving up to 40% better performance than previous notebook graphics chips.

The firm also claims the chips outperform integrated graphic chips, like the ones made by Intel, by 10 percent. Other features include support for Blu-ray, better colour and contrast, the ability to support multiple displays including DVI, HDMI 1.3, Displayport 1.1 and good old fashioned VGA.

Nvidia said the chips have over 100 design wins and will appear in numerous notebooks over the summer period. X
