One of India’s leading telecommunication solutions providers, Tech Mahindra has bagged a contract worth $700 million from British Telecom (BT). The latest contract is to transform and improve BT’s IT infrastructure and is Tech Mahindra’s third major deal with the British telco.
Two months ago, Tech Mahindra signed a five year $350 million deal with BT to provide application maintenance and support services for its business critical applications and platforms. It had previously landed a billion dollar outsourcing contract with the company.
Tech Mahindra has had great success in the telecommunications arena. Apart from BT, its client list also includes major telecom players including AT&T, Motorola and Alcatel-Lucent.
Tech Mahindra president of operations, CP Gurnani, said that the company is chasing big deals and long term contracts. He also confirmed that around 70% of its business comes from Europe and 20% from US.
The confident Gurnani refused to accept that the BT deal meant the company was overly-dependent on BT, saying that it now only represented 60% of Tech Mahindra's business, having come down from 90%. Instead, he believes it’s a vote of confidence from BT, the Economic Times reported.
