Telecommunications service provider Pacnet has launched an application acceleration service, in partnership with Riverbed Technology. The service allows access to data and business applications such as email, enterprise resource planning applications and customer relationship management systems across a WAN while safeguarding data integrity by improving backup and replication processes.

Riverbed Steelhead appliances and Steelhead Mobile client software will help Pacnet to deliver its service to speed up application performance across enterprise IP networks. It claims to offer up to 50 times greater performance in some applications.

Bill Barney, CEO Pacnet said, ‘As multinational enterprises need to support a more geographically dispersed workforce and a greater number of  users and devices accessing applications across their network, the challenge is to improve the user experience.
