Deep in the heart of Texas

Palm, Motorola, Research In Motion, and other makers of PDAs have been sued by a company that claims it owns the patent used for network browsing.

In the suit filed July 29 in the Federal court in Marshall, Texas, Aloft Media claims its technology has been used by the defendants, which include AT&T, Sony Ericsson and Nokia. Aloft wants an injunction against the companies and unspecified damages. Palm's Palm Treo 700p, Motorola's MOTOQ model, RIM's BlackBerry models 8820 and 8320, AT&T with its Tilt, Sony Ericsson with its P1i, and Nokia with its N95 and E90, all violated the patent, Aloft said.
