Pegasystems has opened an R&D centre in Hyderabad, India.

"[The centre] will provide Pegasystems with a global research, development and training footprint and will bring greater technology innovation in the BPM (business process management) sector. We are not here just to save cost but we are excited about the enormous skills available here," said Pegasystems CEO Alan Trefler.

100 engineers will initially populate the sprawling 25,000 square foot facility in the Gacchibowli neighborhood. However, Pegasystems plans to eventually increase the number of employees in the R&D centre by "five to 10 times". 

Trefler also noted that his Massachusetts-based company managed to post 32 per cent growth during the first nine months of the current fiscal year, despite the gruelling economic slowdown.

"Many banks, insurance and telecom companies feel that this is the time to increase their BPM investment," explained Trefler.

Pegasystems recently introduced a software suite to connect business process management systems across corporate departments. The suite provides customers with a central management view of connected applications and features a unified work portal that can be utilised to access newly defined processes. X
