| | Mac clone maker Psystar has released new model and stick two fingers up against Apple and the control of OS-X
Psystar is in court for daring to stick OS-X under the bonnet of hardware which had not been officially blessed by Jobs' Mob, has released a slimmer clone today.
According to the outfit's website The Open(3) replaces the entry-level Open Computer by substituting a smaller, slimmer mini-tower case for the larger, full-size tower of the latter.
Prices are slightly up, after all there are legal bills to pay, with the cost of an entry level computer being $600, up from $555.
For that you get an Intel 2.8-GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive and an Nvidia GeForce 8400GS graphics card with 256MB of RAM, oh and an OS-X.
There are additional costs. FireWire, Bluetooth and wireless hardware cost extra, however, as does a keyboard, mouse and monitor. Without the monitor the over all cost is $847.
Apple's lowest-priced full-featured desktop is the $1,199 Imac, which features an Intel 2.66-GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive and a 20-in. display. X
