Satyam contract with FIFA intact

Satyamgate Walk of life

By Jayant Mishra in Mumbai @ Wednesday, January 07, 2009 11:59 AM

Amidst the Satyam fiasco, the sponsorship contract that Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup 2010 and 2014 games has with Satyam Computer Services remains intact, even though India’s fourth largest software exporter is entangled in a serious corporate governance foul up.

FIFA has confirmed that Satyam computers will stay as a FIFA World Cup sponsor and the official IT services provider to the games. Economic Times, reports FIFA saying, “Satyam´s sponsorship activation programme continues as was agreed at a meeting six months ago. There is, therefore, no suggestion at the current time of writing, that Satyam´s ability to carry out its previously agreed work with FIFA is in any way affected.”

The FIFA-Satyam contract covers a multi-million dollar deal for sponsorship of the games. Besides, it also covers IT services contracts with FIFA for developing event management and logistics solution for the World Cup 2010 and building an extranet and intranet for the association. X
