The State Bank of India (SBI) plans to start selling cinema tickets through its automatic teller machines (ATMs) in Uttar Pradesh.

This plan is the first of its kind in the country. The SBI is discussing the options with technical service providers and multiplexes in some of the major urban centres in the state.

According to SBI chief general manager, Shiv Kumar, SBI is studying the viability of the plan. SBI is confident that it will be the first bank to offer this service through its large network of ATMs. Kumar said that customers will have the option to buy film tickets from anywhere, without worrying about the long queues at cinema halls.
