Section - PCs/Hardware | | | | Seagate has unveiled the industry’s first 1.5 terabyte desktop and half-terabyte notebook hard drives. The device named the Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB, the company claims, will meet the new age demand for digital-content storage in home and business environments. And we thought new age folk were more interested in mysticism, old VW campers and macrobiotic muesli.
The storage device based on perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology marks advent of this week's largest capacity hard drive. The company has also launched two 2.5-inch half-terabyte 5400- and 7200-rpm drives- Momentus 5400.6 and Momentus 7200.4. The company boasts it will deliver the best combination of capacity capacity, mobility and durability for mainstream and high-performance notebook computers, external storage solutions, PCs and industrial applications requiring small form factors.
And who are we to argue? X
