Seagate rumoured to buy Sandisk

Flash! Bang! Wallop!

By C Shanti @ Friday, August 15, 2008 10:45 AM

Hard drive manufacturer Seagate is being tipped to take over bits of flash memory firm Sandisk, or even the whole shooting-match.

According to Mark LaPedus at EE Times, the rumours started circulating at a Flash Memory Summit in Silicon Valley.

Some are speculating that Seagate only wants the solid state disk division of Sandisk. Others are speculating that it will be a 'bad marriage'.

But we've seen plenty of bad marriages in the computer industry over the last 20 years, haven't we? More at EE Times, here. X
