SGI claims Intel Itanium helped win Olympic gold

The Intel Itanium processor was used to design swimsuits which helped speed along swimmers winning gold, according to SGI.

It issued a press release saying that swimmers from the USA and other places used Speedko Fastkin LZR Racer swimming cozzies which were designed on supercomputers using SGI tin and Itanium chips.

Speedo engineers used SGI Altix systems to develop "performance speedwear". The Fastkin LZR Racer, claimed SGI, have five percent less passive drag. X
