Span becomes an EDB company

Mysore gets big investment

Span Infotech has announced that they have become a part of Norwegian IT Company, EDB. This announcement has come with EDB’s second round investment of $10 million in the Bangalore based company. Last year, EDB had acquired half of SPAN for $3.8 million.

EDB will use cash of about $5-$6 million for its Mysore plant. About four acres of land was pre-acquired for the plant that aims to ramp up the strength to 2000 by 2010. The strategic partnership is eyeing on more acquisitions and beefing up the clients front.

The Senior Vice President, Business Development for EDB, Tom Scharning said with this acquisition, the Norwegian IT player is looking forward to its extension plans in India. He further said the key component of EDB’s growth has influenced this idea of sourcing from India and looks optimistic about the smooth execution of its plans with Span.

The co-founder and Managing Director of Span, G L Pradeep is excited about the prospect of entering new business and technology consulting areas with EDB. X
