Sun boss quits after falling sales

Rides into sunset

By Nick Farrell @ Tuesday, June 03, 2008 9:33 AM

Sun's sales boss Donald Grantham seems to be taking responsibility for the company's falling server sales and quit. Grantham had been with the company for nine years. Officially Sun did not give a reason for his departure.

In a statement the company said that Sun would also 'restructure its sales force to focus more on emerging markets'.

However the announcement follows the creation of a single sales team for emerging markets in China, India, Latin America and southern and eastern Europe. It also follows a surprise $34 million loss in the latest quarter that has baffled analysts.

Grantham will be replaced by Peter Ryan, who currently looks after sales in Europe, Middle East and Africa. X
