| | Tempting alternative beckons for medical graduates - Challenging career for fresh medical graduates By Harsha Pramod @ Monday, May 12, 2008 2:11 PM
Section - Outsourcing/Outsourcing | | | | Marlabs India plans to hire up to 2,000 medical professionals for its knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) business by 2009, reports the Economic Times. The unit will undertake medical data analysis for Marlabs’ clients in the US and Europe.
There is an immediate need for 1,000 people, the majority of them being MBBS graduates. They would analyse medical records and provide feedback. The company plans to invest up to eight million dollars by 2009.
Generally, it takes a long time for medical graduates to establish a successful medical practice. Most of them get paid less than Rs.10,000 (US$238.38). Compared with this, the KPO deal offers them an attractive package, making KPO a tempting alternative for newly-qualified medical graduates. X
