Texas, the lone star state, in the land of the free, has taken to tagging children and tracking them with GPS systems to make sure they go to school
Court authorities will be able to order tags to be fixed on children and is expected to do so in more than 50 cases in the next month.
Most of the children forced to wear the ankle bracelets will be high school age, but others will be much younger. They will be ordered to wear them for six months.
Students in the programme will wear the ankle bracelets full-time and will not be able to remove them. Mostly they will be students with gang affiliations, those with a history of running away and skipping school, and those who have been through her court multiple times.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Texas, said requiring students to wear the GPS bracelets full-time raises privacy concerns.
It says that once school is out there is no reason for the courts to know where the kids are going. X
