Thin, light and expensive

Toshiba’s digital products division today introduced the Portégé R500-S5007V, claiming it's the world’s lightest notebook at 2.4 pounds and the first laptop with a 128GB solid state drive (SSD). The laptop, measuring 0.77 inches, is also the world’s thinnest machine, says Tosh.

It may well be thin and light, but it certainly has the clunkiest name we've seen for some time.

The $2,999 laptop has no moving parts which the company says offers 'enhanced level of reliability, durability and system responsiveness.'

The company flaunts the fact that its laptop is the also the first to have a 7mm DVD super multi drive which reduces weight and eliminates the inconvenience of carrying additional drives and cables.

A claimed battery life of more than eight hours, multiple level of passwords and a finger print reader also add to the hefty price tag. It comes with a three year warranty, which is jolly decent of them. X
