| | Three US Senators have had a gutful of being hacked have penned a law designed to expand the cybersecurity workforce and bolster collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Senator Bill Nelson told Federal Computer Week his office’s computers have been hacked on several occasions and he is working with Senator John Rockefeller and Olympia Snowe to draft the law.
Nelson said computers used by three of his staff members were recently targeted in multiple attacks. Normally in these cases the hackers are enthusiastic supporters of the rival political party looking for proof of sex romps with interns, but in these cases they were apparently from China.
The other signatory to the law, Rockefeller is the chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee so it is possible that a law could be pushed through.
It could be one of a number of cyber security laws that will be on the books. President Obama's resident experts are halfway done with a 60-day review of the country’s cybersecurity efforts.
The White House says that it wants a national cyber adviser to coordinate federal agency efforts and the development of a national cyber policy. X
