Taiwanese chip company Via claimed it is in the right position to capitalise on the 2009 mobile and so-called netbook market.
That will be by aiming at thin and light notebooks using the Via Nano processor and the VX800 and the Via Trinity platform, which we revealed last year.
It will now release its dual core Via Nano processor in the second half of next year, while the Via Nano 3000 will give a third more performance, sources claim.
Sources said the 1000/2000 Nano series will be released in January, but no-one from Via will officially comment on design wins it has made.
Via claims it has over 30 design wins from over 10 manufacturers, and it will outline some of these design wins at the Consumer Electronics Show, which starts tomorrow morning in Las Vegas.
The first Via Nano chips will debut at between 1.2GHz and 1.3GHz, and Microsoft is supporting it by supplying Windows XP, otherwise known as Vista Home Basic.
TUL will reveal a $199 small form factor Via based desktop at the Consumer Electronics Show, while Foxconn (Hon Hai) is also supporting Via in its endeavours. And Shuttle will also offer desktops using Via Nano chips, in combination with "Trinity". X |
