Vole rears criminal offspring

Domain name scam volette imprisoned

By John Daly in Germany @ Monday, July 21, 2008 12:08 PM

A former employee of OSzilla has been charged and convicted of fraud.

The ex-volette milked her caring and loving mother by paying for domain name registration fees out of her own pocket and filing grossly inflated invoices. She also used her witchlike charms to get a contractor to send cheques to her desk to pay for some domain names, yet paid the cheques into her mummy's bank account.

Carolyn Gudmundson is going to spend 22 months in the slammer, plus a quarter of a year under the scrutiny of Judge Dredd, and will  have to shell out $923.641 in restitution. Gudmundson, a name which has a very Viking ring to it, confessed to her misdoings back in January. The spectre of 20 years in prison made the wench cooperate, so as to sway the grand inquisitors, it seems. The head of inquisition added that the sentence ought to serve as an example to others.

Others might also take note of the irony of it all, namely that a convicted monopolist fined over a billion dollars by the EU Commission for illegal business practices has now been milked by its own employee. X
