Xbox360 will beat PS3 - Redmond's bizarre claim

Microsoft claims that its Xbox 360 console will sell better than Sony's PS3 during the lifetime of both machines.

Speaking before the start of the E3 video game industry trade show, Don Mattrick, a senior vice president at Microsoft's Xbox division, said the company was locked in a three-way competition with Nintendo's Wii and the Playstation 3.

While Microsoft does not seem to think that it will catch the Wii, Mattrick claimed the Xbox360 will do much better than the PS3. He said that with the recent price cuts, the Xbox360 was now $100 cheaper and had a larger hard-drive than the PS3. While Sony would normally need to cut the price of its PS3 to match, it would find it very difficult to do so, as the division is already losing too much money.

Mattrick said the Xbox 360 had outsold the PS3 in the United States by 5 million units. X
