Yahoo unplugs its editorial office in Chennai

Move to Bangalore Yahoo, or say toodle-oo

Yahoo India has shut its editorial office in Chennai in a jiffy, but the reason for the move still lies in oblivion.

The ten-member team that contributed editorial content to Yahoo have been given the option to either join Yahoo’s new office in Bangalore or say toodle-oo.

The Times of India spoke to an employee, who confirmed the development. He said “Yahoo has offered to absorb then in to the organisation if they are willing to relocate”.

Yahoo says it routinely consolidates its operations for better scale and growth and the current relocation is a part of integration plan for better scale.

It could be that the move was forced on Yahoo by a recent spate of power cuts in Chennai. If that the reason, then Yahoo may have to relocate soon again from Bangalore, as the city has also announced load-shedding plans that could mean regular seven-eight hour power cuts. X
