YOU Telecom wants larger customers

Lowering tariffs

By Umli Miuli @ Wednesday, August 20, 2008 2:43 PM

YOU Telecom is cashing in on the recent TRAI recommendations of allowing internet telephony with an investment of around Rs 100 crore ($23 million) to expand its ISP and broadband services, reported The Hindu.  The influx of funds would possibly happen through private equities.

The telco has planned to initiate the services in six months time with a first round of  investment of Rs 50 crore ($11 million). Affirming its plans, the chief executive officer of You Telecom, E V S Chakravarthy said that it’s just a matter of time for the company to commence services commercially as TRAI awaits DoT’s approval on internet telephony services and is expected to change the tariff structure to open the scope for unlimited talktime.

The Telco now aims to offer its services in nine more cities over the next 12 months. X
