Youtube adds Click to Buy to movies

Pay as you go

By Nick Farrell @ Wednesday, October 08, 2008 10:20 AM

Youtube is adding "click-to-buy" links to the watch pages of Youtube videos, allowing users to buy songs and video games connected to the content they're watching on the site.

The move is intended to try and work out new ways of making money out of Youtube, which is one of the world’s most popular websites. It is widely seen as an attempt by Google to make Youtube the hub of an e-commerce service through which it will sell music, films, TV shows, video games, books, concert tickets and other media-related products.

Each Youtube video will sport a "click-to-buy" beneath the video. The products advertised will be bought from Amazon, and Itunes will share the revenue.

Google said that it is also launching the beta version of "Adsense in Games," a technology designed to put relevant advertising links in web-based games. X
